NickKnacks - Graphic Testimonials of Adolescent Life

NickKnacks is an in progress graphic novel that I am illustrating by hand. The structure of the comic follows short passages from real people who have generously shared an experience that holds significance to memories of their youth in the early 21st century. The title alludes to a collection of mismatched bits and pieces, much like a thrift store. As thrifting has gained popularity amongst Gen Z, I was inspired to make a book that had a plethora of stories that some readers will hold onto more than other stories. Something for everyone. I am illustrating each story as under the preferences of each respective author. Some of which, prefer to be anonymous or have their physical depiction altered or abstracted. I want to work as an artistic vessel for those who struggle to express themselves in visual mediums, and feel as though they are the main character in their story - as everyone deserves to be.
